Hello everyone.

This is my first post on the forum and I don't know how long these posts should be, so I'll try to be short and sweet.

I just assembled my first PC, and (of course) I encountered a serious problem after booting it. My GTX 970 http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5-Nvidia-GeForce-Graphics/dp/B00NFFAW50 sits on the first PCI-E slot of my Gigabyte M5 Sniper http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4482#ov . The problem I have is that when I download the drivers for it and then proceed to reboot, I have no video signal. I read about the latest driver and its problems, which is why I tried *four* past drivers which all resulted in the PC running and no video output. What am I doing wrong? Is it a hardware problem? If you require more details, I'll tell you everything you need to know.

Thank you in advance to anyone who decides to help me in any way shape or form.

What is your power supply like, are you sure it is sufficient? Can you check the card for any defects or busted caps? Most cards nowadays use solid caps but you never know.

I have a Corsair RM750i, so wattage isn't a problem. As for the busted caps, I checked its condition and it looks pristine.

Sorry for the question bombardment,

Does the card work in safe mode?

Does it display the boot logo at all?

Have you tried a different port?

You are not using 4-pin to 6 or 8 pin adapters correct?

Don't be sorry, I understand the reasoning. So:

No

The Windows logo lights up then the screen goes black.

Yes, same problem.

The PSU has an 8pin cable for the GPU. No adapters.

Let's see gpu works fine without drivers but blacks out right after the graphic driver is installed. All past 4 drivers you're tried does not work either and still does the same thing.

Try your GPU in another x16 slot

Update motherboard bios

Try the supplied driver that came with your card

All don't work, then your gpu is faulty. Return to seller and ask for exchange.

I already tried suggestion 1 and 2. The problem with number 3 is that my case is a NZXT S340. And the driver is on a CD.

Could I put the driver CD into my laptop and copy it into an USB?

Youre not a doofus, troubleshooting a DOA card is very difficult as you don't know what exactly is the cause, is it the drivers? Other software? Is your version of Windows borked? Mobo, PSU or something else?

Lots of things to narrow down one by one.

everyone else is handling this pretty well, but I just wanted to say welcome to the forums.

in the future, don't feel bad if you fill the first post with information, it'll probably actually help the members trying to figure it out with you.
