Good $120 CPU

I'm looking for a good AU$120 CPU that supports DDR3-1333.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Maybe a G3258? This allows you for high overclocking within a good budget. This one is €78 which is around AU$117

So you are going to do video rendering and stuff?
Even though it's a dual core, it still beats that X4 as if its a soussage :)

Go with the G3258, it outperforms the X4 with less cores.

That said, the G3258 is advertised to use 53 Watts and the X4 93 Watts but my G3258 OC'd to 4.7 GHz never reached 50 Watts, so stock would be way below that.

These tests where done on stock clock speeds and because the G3258 is an 'K' edition (Actually a 20y anniversary editon but hey it can oc).

And unless you are going to do some rendering these cores make no sence, the x4's core is less then half of one G3258 core in performance.

Wich Games you want to play? And keep in mind you need the right MoBo (Z87,Z97 it work on some other but shoud work better on Z-Chipsets) to unleash the full G3258 power (mine run @4,6Ghz and still is absolutly cool, but maybe I was lucky 4,4Ghz on a Z-Chipset should work for the most)

Would the i3-4170 be good?

And I plan on playing League of Legends on a 1080p 60Hz screeen, as well as other games like Fallout 4.

You may have to turn down physik related options for fallout but should be playable with a OC'd G3258

What motherboard do you have now? You can't put any CPU in any motherboard. Also I'd suggest saving a bit more and getting an i3.

CPU: Ryzen 3 3600 | GPU: Gigabite GTX 1660 super | Motherboard: MSI Mortar MAX | RAM: G Skill Trident Z 3200 (2x8GB) | Case: Cooler Master Q300L | Storage: Samsung 970 EVO 250G + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB | PSU: Corsair RM650x | Displays: LG 27'' G-Sync compatible 144hz 1080p | Cooling: NH U12S black | Keyboard: Logitech G512 carbon | Mouse: Logitech g900

I have an i3 4150 in my ststem and it can handle Fallout 4, GTA 5 and an assortment of other games at high to maximum settings no problem. The only difference between the two processors ie their clock speed. Pair your i3 with a good graphics card and you shouldn't have any issues.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Logitech K120, Tecknet "Gaming" mouse, Creative Inspire T2900, HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless headset, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

What's your point? Are you agreeing with him? G3258 = dual core no hyperthreading but unlocked. i3 4150 = dual core with hyperthreading locked.

Yeah, but he's not right pairing a GTX 980 ti with a i3 for instance isn't "alright", and I find i3's a waste since you can buy a i5 for a little bit more money anyways.

An i3 will be more than enough for what he needs, and I never said pair it with a 980ti. If you are pairing a 980ti with an i3, I suggest you re-balance your builds budget.

An i3 will have enough CPU headroom to play the two games that the OP mentioned. Considering that my system has a GTX 750 and I can max the graphics in both of the games, something like a 950 or 960 will be plenty powerful.

Edit: The i5 is pretty expensive in Australia, a lot more expensive than in the US so it would take considerably more to upgrade to an i5.

Oh I didn't read that part. Yeah. That physically hurts me.
