issues with FreeNAS

Go to solution Solved by Scott17818,

I was able to fix it now. had conflicts from the user acess, and CIFS share access. for some reason FreeNAS does not allow changes in the GUI after initial CIFS share setup to be changed (wont implement new changes), but as long as settings are correct at creation of the share it works great.

I have FreeNAS running on an older PC and having a few issues with file permissions.

I've looked online and I've tried the following in shell

chown -R root:wheel /mnt/drive

and

chmod -R root:wheel /mnt/drive

this worked temporarily.. and now It just seems to have locked out. I have CIFS shares, but no permission to create folders now.

You mean from the windows side, as in win users cant create or write? You may need to login under the root or superuser cred if you're under guest or windows users.

What's the permissions of the CIFs share? Also try restarting the server. I had a similar issue with AFP shares where I would only be able to move/create files but not folders and I ended up fixing it when I upgraded my servers hardware and did a fresh install (and cleaned up the permissions).
