Hello,

Currently i am running the following configuration:

Mainboard: Gigabyte z87x-ud3h Gigabyte mobo link
CPU: Intel xeon e3 1241-v3
RAM: Kingston HyperX beast 16GB 1600MHz
GPU: MSI GTX980ti Gaming 6G

Now I want to change my System to a mini ITX Form factor.

I already have Chosen the new mainbaord and it is already ordered.
It will be a MSI h97i ac MSI mobo link

Why I choose the h97 chipset?

- The features are almost the same except for the Overclocking.
- I am going to keep the z87 mainboard for a possible future build.
- It has Wifi already installed.
- I don't need the OC feature for the xeon.

Now I would like to know if anyone has any experience when switching to another chipset.
Do I have to make new install of Windows?

Switching from my i7-4770k to the xeon didn't require a fresh install of Windows.

If you need any further Information please just reply.

OK, thank you for your instant reply.

I upgraded from WIndows 8.1, will I have to use that key?

EDIT: You were right, first the mainboard asked me to configure it. Then it booted right away.
It said "configuring devices" then I could see my desktop.
And I also need to activate Windows.
