Need some help on new build

MriPes

As said in the title, I'm working on a new build for myself (actually the first desktop).

1. The budget is around $1100. I'm currently in Vietnam, where we don't have EVGA, Noctua, be quite! and some brands.

2. Main purpose of the build is for gaming and design, involve 2D, video editing and 3D (for beginner).

3. I already have 1 monitor (21.5" Asus VS229H-P) and have plan for 1 or 2 more (mostly 1080p but will consider 2k) but after upgrade to an 980TI.

4. I have my own peripherals so it will not be in the build.

Thanks.

p.s: Is it good using an AMD GPU for 3D?

Its better to use a NVDIA GPU for 3d as it has more Cuda cores

16gb Corsair vengeance 2666mhz

MSI Gaming X 1070

Yah, just some confusing thought after reading the performance battle of an 970 and R9 290.

Thanks

If you think you are going to go with a 980ti at some point why don't you just wait until you have the funds for it?
With newer high end GPU's coming to market soon I think we can expect to see a price drop.

[CPU: 4.7ghz I5 6600k] [MBAsus Z170 Pro G] [RAM: G.Skill 2400 16GB(2x8)]

[GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 970] [PSU: XFX Pro 850W] [Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo]
[Storage: 500GB WD HDD / 128GB SanDisk SSD ] [Case: DeepCool Tessaract]

The point is I'm currently using an old model laptop back in 2013 and it's not deliver the needs on my daily work anymore.

tbh, the laptop itself is having a lot of slow and lagging when using Adobe software (like Photoshop, Premier...) for big files.

Can you take on another PSU? Currently, we don't have EVGA in Vietnam.

Is it R9 390X good for 3D learning than an GTX 970?

Any PSU brand you can get should be adequate. Just get a brand that is reputable. Corsiar or XFX?
After doing some research it would appear most graphic design programs utilize Cuda cores.
This would mean going Nvidia. PSU ratings:
GTX 970: 500w w/2 6pin connectors
GTX 980: 550w w/2 6pin connectors.
Note: New GPU's should be coming out for Nvidia soon which should see us a price drop.
If the 980 is too expensive now, it may be worth purchasing everything but the GPU and waiting.

Thanks. About the PSU things, most famous in here is CM, Corsair and Seasonic (I think).

The GTX 980 has less VRAM than the 980Ti, right?

I'd grab the Corsair. And yes, the 980 will have 4gb while the 980ti will have 6gb.
The 980ti benchmarks +-30% over the 980 but at a much higher price point.
If you get a 980ti you'll want a 600w PSU w/one 6 and one 8pin.
If you are just getting into design and only doing "basic" stuff, I might even recommend
dropping from the i7 to the i5 if it'll make the 980ti fit into your budget.
That's my current upgrade path for my personal rig.
Though I opted for an 850w PSU with two 6/8 pin to have enough juice to SLI a second.
