custom NAS

I am trying to find a nas unit which I can expand at will and can access over the internet with 2048bit encyption

 

Requirements:
Good expandability but 8TB needed atm
File, music and video streaming (ipad, android and other device compatable)
2048bit encryption

Accessable anywhere in the world with internet (reason for the encryption)
Gbit ethernet
24/7 functionallity 

I am thinking of building my own with the following components

This will cost a bit so I am unsure about it

what raid will you run?

I am not planning to raid at this time so I can maximize the efficiency of it 

But I might do a raid 10 at a later date

Don't get that case if you want expandibility, get something like a Prodigy if you want to have a lot of 3.5" bays and keep MITX

The only reason I Choose that case was because it's thin and cheap

Plus I can always do some Modding and ghetto mount other hard drives without spending double for the case and then spending more on a psu

Onboard raid will be fine for raid 10.

Ah sorry but my friend on Skype told me I can probably connect to the nas with 32bit encryption with just a standard nas unit saving myself a lot of money

May I ask what OS are you going to use? I'm thinking of doing something similar.
