My desk from IKEA is breaking down because of my monitor stand.

Has anyone here built a custom desk? How could I reinforce the back to properly support my monitor stand?

Just general tips?

I REALLY like the desks from Forecast Consoles, but they're out of my budget. Recs?

Thanks!
-Matt

IKEA has real wood table tops that you use in the same way as the cheapy particleboard ones :P

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20275140/ (theres different variations too)

Paul's Hardware uses them with a mount and they seem to hold up.

Building your own is another route, difficult, time consuming, but worth it to people in the long run for the experience, it's your choice

I don't know anything about building them tho, sry

Depending on your desk design and material bracing the table and making sure it doesn't flex is your best bet if your making it out of solid wood or stuff like particle board that will be much better than most of the cheaper Ikea desks where they mainly pressed fiberboard with a hollow honey comb center.
