I have loaded the Raspberry  Pi operating system via a disk imager on to many SD card I have used them and when I plug it into the computer that I used previously I makes me format it with 55MB of storage meaning that my 8gb sandisk SD card is now broken and can't be formatted to a higher Capacity.

I would be thankful for any help

The 55MB is the boot partition formatted in vfat while the rest is Ext4 which Windows does not support. To format the whole device you can use Disk Management or DiskPart.
