Unless you're unfortunate to have some locked oem or really old mobo, getting 1600Mhz to run as advertised shouldn't be an issue. 

 

Manually overclocking RAM isn't the same as enabling XMP. As long as your mobo supports DDR3 2400Mhz and you enable the XMP profile,  I don't see how a faster set wouldn't work.
