elite dangerous performance problem on amd

so i recently updated my R9 280X's driver, and i decided to play ED. i was startled to find that my framerates in open space were around 15-20 fps! at 1080p! yesterday frontier development released a patch for the game, and i hadnt played it between the patch releasing and updating my video drivers. 

 

So what im asking is if anyone else is having issues with the latest AMD drivers killing their performance in games.
