cpu without heat sink

I'm gonna be doing a post test on a new motherboard. Can I do this with out the heat sink hook up.

Use the stock fan (if it has one). If not, it's ok to have it post, but be sure to shut if off when it does.

You can but don't let it run for too long and the moment your done turn it off.

It really isn't a good idea and if you do it, know that YOU are assuming the risk of completely ruining your cpu

Best to put a heatsink on -- you don't want to damage your brand-new CPU on a brand-new motherboard.

Your CPU might not make it past POST. CPUs gets hot faster than your think -- especially without any heatsink at all.

Plus, some motherboards won't even work without a fan connected to the CPU_fan header.
