If you want to record gameplay, I would suggest that you look to your GPU for that.

 

FRAPs will do it, but taxes your CPU.  ShadowPlay on NVidia cards works very well at using your GPU to do it, but it isn't "free", it does take some power.  However, neither of those games are taxing, so even a GTX 960 would be fine for either.

 

As for the games themselves, the i3 is just fine, you do not need the i5 for either.  Of course, the i5 in the long run and for other things is "nice to have", but not required.
