Honestly the PSU is fine for the build. The CX series is for basic build and that's what this is. No need for a Z170 motherboard unless you want to get into the world of overclocking non k cpu's which is much harder than overclocking K cpu's. You will probably be fine with 8gb of ram. If you aren't overclocking then no need for a cpu cooler.

anything other than corsair cx

so xfx, seasonic, evga, or a different corsair psu, such as ax, or lm or whatever, just not cx

and dont get a cheap out oone, like the non branded ones

Unless you plan to upgrade later on to a 'K' series i5 or i7, the z170 motherboard isn't necessary and you could get a cheaper board with a different chipset.. maybe the savings there, plus getting only 8gb ram, and using the stock cooler could allow you to get an i5 instead?

my work in progress

i5 6600k  //  16gb g.skill ddr4 3000  //  evga gtx 980

custom water loop

Just get a Better quality PSU. The CX Series from Corsair isn't that good. The EVGA SuperNova 550 GS/G2 should work better.

Yes I know it might be more expensive but you'll also have some room for expansion the the future and the power supply will be higher quality and quieter at least

I have three questions for you:

1. What country do you live in?

2. What is your budget?

3. Do you mind buying used PC parts?

Also to add, your build will need a GPU and some forum of storage. Unless you plan to install windows on a floppy disk, you are going to need an HDD/SSD for windows and a GPU to even be able to play games.

he stated them already
