Excel 2010 Cant Edit Series

Sometimes when I am working in Excel, I will randomly get this error. I will go to plot something, and I can name the series, but when I enter select my X-Values it erases the series name and the ={1} in the Y value box and I cannot edit anything. Rebooting does not help. the only way I have found to fix this is to just wait about a day and the problem goes a way for a little bit... HELP
