Clock Speed

Go to solution Solved by Torn,

Worth it or not is up to you. Keep in mind that k chips do not come with a cooler.  Right now on NCIX.com the dif in price is only $30 canadian, add in the cost of a good cooler which you'll need for overclocking, roughly 100 for air or 150 for water.

Now you decide.

imo it's more than worth it 4.4Ghz is easily attainable on air

If I get a 6600 or a 6600k The main difference is the k processor is unlocked but is the additional clock speed of the k chip worth it?

Well i have a G3258 and the extra performance is needed. I dont know about Skylake CPU's though so i would still say that if the K version is less then $120AUD more expensive then yes get it! As i got an extra 70% OUT OF MY PENTIUM! Also if ur gonna overclock with the K get a better cooler!

 That wasnt my question

The 6600 comes in with 3.30 Gigahertz

The 6600k Comes in stock with 3.50 Gigahertz

So im asking is the extra .2 Gigahertz worth the around $20 extra??

Sorry if u meant that then no the $20 is not worth it as ull need a different cooler anyway.

Trust me if I can, anyone can. I'm running a 6600k with a Noctua NH-U14s. 4.4Ghz. 35C at idle, 75C under 100% load

So basicly if I am not looking to overclock its not worth it because the total cost with the cooler equates to less performance?

If you are positive that you are not going to overclock. It is 100% pointless to get a k chip, they both run at the same frequency out of the box.

Hertz is the measurement of frequency.
