ist that normal? thats what happens with my GTX 950. when its below 60c the fans dont spin up ever. when it hits 60c then the fans outmatically spin up. its designed to do this to maximize silence in your PC.

Not vary silent when you are playing a game and the whole home can here the gpu fans at full RPM. If i set MSI afterburner to auto it would slowly go up to that speed. Going to 100RPM is unnecessary. In the past i was able to change my GPU Fan speeds no matter what with afterburner. Now something else is taking control of the fan speeds and i want to be able to control my hardware.

so you want to throw the fans at 0rpm when its under load? not exactly the ideal thing to do there. id say to reapply the thermal compound on the GPU. though do note that opening the gpu to do this will void manufacturer warranty.  if you do decide to do this then i will not be held liable for your actions and anything you do is at your own risk

I made the computer myself. And i do not intend on running the card at 25 or less %RPM. I want to run it at a more reasonable RPM so it wont make too much noise. Just because its only at 58 dose not mean it needs to go to full rpm. What would reapplying the thermal compound do? The card is not overheating.

It might just be something in your BIOS that forces it to increase fan speed once you hit a thermal limit. In this case, that limit might be 60 degrees C.

That is what i was thinking. Some sort of software that is taking over the operations of the fans. I have an ASUS m5a97 R2.0 Motherboard. I might go ahead and clear CMOS and flash bios. if not ill see if it is a drive that is taking over. I just wanted imput before fiddling around Maybe it can be something simple.

reapplying the paste will reduce the temps on it. and by void warrenty i mean the warrenty that MSI has on the GPUs if you are off warrenty you still do risk damaging the card while removeing the fan and heatsink.

No, I meant the GPU bios.

I assume that this has always happened, and it's not something that's new. If it is, just reinstall drivers and MSI afterburner to see if that fixes it.
