Hi Guys

I am totally new to the forum but have been enjoying the LTT videos for some time.

I am having trouble with my monitor not displaying anything when the pc boots up and after the monitor (but not the whole pc) goes to sleep. I have been trying to troubleshoot it but have had no luck as it seems really random.

The history of this system is that it has been running very happily for a year with my GTX760 from EVGA. I swapped this a 5 weeks ago for an MSI gaming 4g GTX970 and everything has been running just fine since then. I am connected to an LG 2442PE monitor using HDMI and the whole thing works very nicely.

So, I finally upgraded to windows 10 and after some issues with coretemp, the searchbar not working, C++ updates upsetting one of my programs and DSR moving my icons all over the place everything was fine for a few days. I then left the computer on, made lunch, came back and the monitor would not wake up when I moved the mouse. I could hear my music still playing so knew the system had not crashed. I used the power button to shut it down, restarted and it loaded up fine so I assumed it was a one off until it did it again yesterday. This time however the only way to wake it up was connect the hdmi to my laptop and then back into the PC. I also used a DVI cable for a while and that gave no issues. Further faffing about had revealed that the fault will correct itself if the system and monitor are powered off at the mains for an as yet undetermined period of time (it has varied on the 3 occasions this fixed it) but you can reboot 10 times and have no joy. Leaving the computer off but powered on at the mains did not result in successful booting. I also tried turning off the monitor at the mains and the tower at the mains independently to see if it was the monitor or the pc that was angry.

The only other weird behaviour since installing windows 10 is that left clicking my mouse will turn the computer on after it has been shut down. It never did that before and the BIOS options are set to ignore the mouse so....whaaat? I did fix this issue by telling windows to not allow the mouse to wake the pc from sleep but it was off, windows was not even loaded so how can that work?

Anyway, if anyone has suggestions that don't include 'have you updated the driver/BIOS' I would love to hear them. The system has been stable for long enough with its current driver/BIOS options that I have discounted them as issues. And as I cant get into the BIOS as I have no display I cant see how windows drivers have any relevance. Also once the system is up and running it can be on all day without any display issues at all. I can game, watch movies, whatever. Its only a sleep/power on issue.

Any assistance at all would be welcome as I don't want to admit defeat and use DVI. Its a simple way out, but I want to know why it wont work as it has done for so long!
