I am planning on overclocking my i5-6600k and I would like opinions on cooling. Here is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TWGQ8d. I would like to keep away from liquid cooling and stick with air. The NZXT S340 comes with two 120mm fans and the ability to put 4 all together with one being 140mm, I am also going to be using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I am wondering if this is going to be enough or if i have no choice but to go with liquid cooling.

Just now, DualZone said:

the 212 evo is for mild to moderate OC, if you wanna push your cpu to the limit, i recommend the NH-D15 or dark rock pro 3, though you might wanna check if your case supports cooler thats 160mm or 167mm (if im not mistaken).

as for case air flow, for your system, two intake and one rear exhaust should be quite enough

comments on your build:

Spoiler

1) cooler comments as above

2) ive heard that crucial ballistix ram doesnt play nice with skylake, try getting hyperx fury or vengeance lpx ram, those work fine for skylake

3) maybe get an SSD

4) well... the 980 isnt a great performance per dollar card, its kind of in between mid range and high end, i suggest either getting a 970 (or r9 390), or a 980 Ti, depending what resolution you play at

5) get a better psu, i recommend EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W or EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650W for higher OC overhead if you plant o get a higher end gpu

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

The 6600k tends to run quite cool in general so I think you'll be find with with a decent overclock on you 212 EVO. Just keep increasing the overclock in small increments until you hit around 70-75c max in a stress test. If you want to go further in the future then there are many premium air coolers that can take there, such as the Noctua DH-15 (or 14) or Be-quiet Dark Rock Pro 3.
