So over the past 4 months or so I have been buying parts to build a new computer. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/06dkkiser/saved/#view=dK6Zxr

Well I've been slowly assembling it and today I finally got my last part in, which was a Kraken x61 and finished the computer.

I'm not new to building computers as I've done it in the past, but its been like 6+ years since my last build. Anyways whenever I go to press the power button nothing happens. I have a corsair HX1000 and I can press the fan button to see if its working and the fan spins fine. Also the lights on the motherboard light up. Is this a power supply problem or something else? I tried reconnecting some of the connectors and took out and reinstalled the ram. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated as a lot of time has went into finishing this PC and its kind of upsetting that it doesn't do anything lol. just trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting.

Thanks for any help :D

Have you plugged in the power and reset switch cables to your motherboard correctly?

Talking about the JFP1 connector? Yeah I'm pretty sure. When trying to figure out why it wouldn't start I actually checked that first.

do you have the speaker plugged into the motherboard, depending on what sound it makes it could tell you the type of problem you are dealing with.

Yes I do, but the sound I'm hearing is more like a metallic clicky sound right after I press the power button on the motherboard. It kind of sounds like it tries to do something, but can't. I'm going to take the power supply out and recheck all the connections. I appreciate the help so far.

Thanks. So I am going to eliminate what could be the problem. Can't be Cooler. Can't be Motherboard (pretty sure as it lights up). Can't be GPU (as the system would probably boot from integrated graphics).

It could be the CPU, as nearly everything else turns on with no problem. It could be the PSU, but I seriously doubt it because some components turn on. Finally, it could be a problem with the motherboard (the capacitors ect.) but i seriously doubt it again.

So I think that it is most likely a problem with the CPU, so I would try reseating it, or if you can try another one.

I'll try reseating the CPU. Also I pulled out the power supply and rehooked up the cables. Same result. Could a bad ram stick cause this? Also I have no replacement or extra parts to try. Also the 5820k does not have integrated graphics.

I would also try a new GPU as you don't have integrated (if that is possible). And if you have multiple systems try the RAM stick in a different one as see if it boots.

Well I figured it out guys. Apparently I missed something important lol. I forgot to check the power cables as my power supply comes with two CPU 8 pins and I used one of them for my GPU, which caused it to not boot. I replaced it with a 8 pin normal PCI-E cable and it works fine! I hope anyways. It at least does something now. Anyways I appreciate everyones help.
