it shouldn't hurt it but you'll be limited to the slower speed

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

So I was wondering if it would hurt anything to run two different brands of ram at 2 different speeds in the same system? And what speed would it run at?

If you have 2 sticks of 8GB ram at 1600, and 2 sticks of 8GB at 2400, your limited to the 1600 speed. You can overclock your ram to raise the limit, but i wouldnt advise it unless you know what your doing and have adequate cooling.
