Hey Friends,

So i built up a new PC for  myself tonight, and everything  appears to be running smoothly except for one detail.

Before I enter specifics, here is my build:

Core i5 - 4590 3.3 ghz (Stock heatsink)

EVGA GTX 950 Superclocked

Gigabyte Z97N- WiFi MoBo

This is hooked up to my 49 Inch Vizio 4k TV

The intention of this PC is essentially for 4k Video, and 1080 gaming.

But back to my issue

I left the thing running for a while to do a file transfer, and left my tv off while it did it's thing.

I come back an hour later and turn my tv on, everything is scaled up, none of the colors are correct.

This occurred maybe 4 hours after drivers were installed.

I rebooted the pc and everything is fine now, but does anyone have a clue as to why it happened? Temps are fine on everything and my fans didn't even have to ramp up that much.

Last thing I want is to be gaming and having everything mess up on me.

Thanks in advance, and no, no pictures of what appeared on my screen, as i'm only just thinking as I type this that I should have taken pictures.

this could just be a tv thing, since the tv will configure itself to the pc, if it happens again instead of rebooting, try and change the resolution then back again to original. your pc could have gone into standby mode also.

if i post a link to amazon try to use the LTT affiliate code to help the channel http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=linustechtips-20

i did that through the  PC, should I have done it on the TV itself?

Also, update: I left the PC running again with the tv off  for about 7 hours (Basically since my originalpost) and I'm not experiencing the same bug anymore,if it did happen within the bigger time frame, it corrected itself. Potentially just a day one issue? Or a graphics driver installed itself and threw everything out of whack?

my spectre 50in 4k tv has auto white balance so it will change whites to off white to damn near grey, and it only happens while im browsing web pages, never while gaming or watching tv, just another reason why a pc monitor is better than an hdtv, though 4k porn is so much better on a 50 inch tv than a 23 in, monitor ,LOLZ :P
