Hey all!

So, my friend has a HP Probook with Intel HD Graphics 5000 and AMD R5 255M (Or 355M, not sure).

The graphics card that is always used is the Intel Graphics one.

I put High Performance mode on (on battey and AC), I checked the BIOS (the only option is to disable the AMD one), I set everything up in the Intel graphics control panel as well.

But everything I do causes the Intel one to stay default. Even disabling the Intel one places "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" as the used graphics card (and yes I have tried installing the newest drivers, no effect).

I would appreciate help from anyone, thanks.

Are you sure that your graphics card is detected and not dead? Go check onto your bios.

The GPU is detected, windows detects it, and when I turn the "Disable dGPU" option in the BIOS, then it is not detected. As of now windows detects both GPUs.

it probably turns off the discrete gpu when it isnt needed to save power

That was my guess too. But I tried running GPU intensive tasks, like playing Payday 2, for example, but the GPU is still Intel HD Graphics, and the game lags because of that.
