Okay i have a 980 ti classified and i'm new to overclocking. I followed Linus Tech Tips guide to overclocking GPUs to the letter and also Referenced Jays2Cents video also. i was getting great overclocks of like 250 to 270 for core clock until it crashed at 280. Was stuck on black screen but followed instruction and turned of PC to get back to desktop. Turned over clock down and suddenly next benchmark i was getting FPS of like 30 to 40. Like WTF, it think for some reason i have a core clock of only 450 and Memory clock of 450. Uninstalled MSI Afterburner and reset Navidia Control panel to default then rebooted Pc and it went back to normal FPS but CPU-z still says that same core clock of like 595 running 3D applications profile. I Need Help if anyone can help me out. I just want it back to normal and to never download MSi afterburner ever again.

Why dont you just switch it back to it? You know overclock it back to default and then leave it alone.

that sounds like digging a hole to the surface when you have already fallen into a hole, mostly when i have so soundly proven i messed things up :/ i think i'm going to uninstall and reinstall its navida driver. This Forum seems to be the exact problem i am having but with a 980 ti instead of a 970

Im sure its just your Driver that is fucked up after the OC. Just reinstall it and you will be fine.

Also, keep in mind that sometimes CPU-Z won't show the correct clocks. Use Afterburner or HWMonitor. Other than that at this point it seems your drivers got borked so yeah try going clean and see if that fixes it.

update i used DDU installed new driver and everything returned to normal except for one thing. it wont do close to the overclock it was pulling before. It lost about 150 in core clock and memory i havent tried yet. During the first overclocking session i didnt touch voltage and also temps never went over 70

What was the max frequency you were hitting before and what is it now?

+270 sounds rather high, like the card was trying to go to a boost clock of 1,600 or more, which would be a very aggressive overclock.

+150 sounds like a more reasonable overclock (around 1,500 I'm guessing).
