"NAS" (And some other network things)

hug0mac

Hi everyone!

Some days ago I did get myself my first "real" hard drive to use, a WD Red 3TB, works great but I have been looking around on how to do things with it and today I need help from you wonderful LTT people!

So my questions are;

  • How do I share the whole HDD with my network locally, not on internet or server things.
  • I have seen that you can wake up your computer thru LAN. I can do it, I just don't know how to.

Any help is appreciated =)

(PS: I got Windows 7)

i just want to add to that WOL stuff that in theory a bios setting should be all you need to do, and that any respectable motherboard manufacturer should have wake from S5 (complete shutdown) available.
