mobo plug-in power?

So this is kind of strange to me, but when using microphones such as the "ECM-CS3" you apparently require good "plug-in power" in order to make it work better (aka louder sound, less noise, etc), but i just want to plug it straight into the motherboard, how do i figure out if my motherboard supports the power the mic draws in its 3.5 port?
