How much is a 4690k in the US? That thing can overclock. Or, even better, stretch to a 6600k.

4690k is $220 dollars. That looks like an amazing choice. Is the 6600k like a lot better, or just a bit. It is about $30 dollars more, and if the 4690 is good enough, I dont think I would go for the 6600k

I was going to get the i5 6500 but people are telling me that is not good for overclocking. So I want a good CPU with light overclocking capabilites, for around the same price as a 6500. (Around 200 bucks)

for overclocking, you want a processor name that ends with K or X (for intel)

this would be your best bet

but dont forget, only Z170 motherboard supports overclocking (for intel 6th gen)

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

For $30 (£20) I'd go for the 6600k, just remember to get DDR4 RAM, not DDR3.

Thanks for the reminder on the RAM. I had DDR3 on my list. And I will look into some specs, but I will favour the 6600k. Thanks for all the help.

The 6600k is quite a bit better than the 4690k. At stock it's more on par with a stock 4790k, which is pretty impressive since a stock 6600k is 3.6 GHz on quadcore loads while a stock 4790k is 4.2 GHz on quadcore loads. There is no reason to buy chips from a three year old architecture now when Skylake is similarly priced.
