So my MacBook Pro Retina has a maximum charge cycle of 1000 times. I have recently been using it a lot more than I have previously. Will the battery last longer if I use the MacBook while is plugged in all the time, thus saving on the charge cycles, or will that not make any difference. I never really sell any of my stuff so resale value is not important I just want it to last as long as possible without requiring a replacement battery. Currently at 124 cycles so not really to worried atm.

Thanks

I wouldn't worry. There's no point to counting charge cycles because it's going to happen eventually. By the time it will actually matter you'll likely have already moved on to a new computer or will be looking at one, but to answer your question no using it while plugged in doesn't save you charge cycles,in some cases it can reduce the battery's lifespan more. The difference is marginal though, just use it how it best suits your needs

Cool. I think its been 2 years since I got it so 124 doesn't seem too bad.
