A pin fell of mine today for some odd reason(was cleaning gpu, put gpu back in and a pin was missing) and i saw a 5 meter dvi cable. Would anyone care to explain the point of such a crazy big cable.

For longer distances..... Isn't it obvious?

I cant really think of a reason above 3 meter maybe 4 meters but 5, thats like routing a cable from one house to another and still zip tieing some of it down.

If your computer is 5 meters away from your monitor...

At this rate i could use the cable to route linus's pc to my monitor.

Pretty much every application where you're set up quite some distance from the screen xD

when you hook up to a beamer maybe? I have used 30 meter HDMI cables before and other crazy length VGA cables. but that was in a large theater though.

Does anyone even use PCIe SSDs?

If you have 3 monitors and your pc is on the ground you will probably need 1.

Not nessassarily for home use,

But in a commercial/public environment they can end up using DVI cables >100M in length etc

So yes there is a use, just not what you would normally think of.

Arch Linux on Samsung 840 EVO 120GB: Startup finished in 1.334s (kernel) + 224ms (userspace) = 1.559s | U mad windoze..?

I completely understand for a business but not for home usage.
