hello guys and girls

im looking for some help on the matter of getting a new pc for my self later this year.

then my girlfriend suddently voiced she also wants a new pc as she is tired of the Xbox 360 (guess i saw that comming, damn consols lol)

tho i'm in abit of a pickle after watching this 1 pc, 7 monitors dealio linus and the team rigged up in a youtube video.

if 1 pc, 7 monitors with sick expensive gear worked out that well, then how about 1 pc for both me and my girlfriend. tho i would want to play a game or watch a movie on it, while she plays a diffrent game.

im not that big of a techy to know how that would work if its even possible. so if you guys could channel your inner linus and help me out that would be amazing!

budget, 2100 USD, either 2 pc's that totals of 2100usd, or 1 pc + 3 monitors (1 for her, 2 for me)

she will be using her pc / part of the pc for games like shadow of modor.. that lotr game, the division, and perhaps doing some anime stuff D: i dont know if thats just called rendering or whatever. sorry.

id use mine for games like CSGO, WoW, World of warships, arma 3, and others. watch alot of tv shows and movies.

thank you in advance and have a nice day! :)

after watching the linustechtips video on youtube i kinda liked the idea :D tho i guess my girlfriend could look at what im looking at interwebz wise, like lets say i was looking for an engagement ring, or gay porn for that matter lol.?

If you mean she would be able to see your history on one PC, she wouldn't. What you're doing is essentially using two separate computers that are just splitting the CPU into 2 CPU's with half the cores (virtually and that's not really how it works, just the best way to explain it). I would go for 2 separate systems because something going wrong with 2 can go real bad real fast. What kind of monitors are you looking for? 1080p or 1440?

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

@Ryoutarou97, lol.. didnt even think about that, thanks for clearing that up :D - 1080p is just fine, two pc's for around 2100 USD, id love if we could get a 144hz monitor in the budget aswell.

thanks! :)

Working on 2 builds on PCPP. How do you feel about rebates? all, only big ones, or none at all?

rebates im not that fuzzed about. but if you can include NZXT S340 - Designed by Razer ATX Mid Tower Case in my pc that would be sick. :D i love the design

Sure, no problem. More questions!

If your build could OC for, say, $50 would you pay it (within budget but could be allocated somewhere else)?

Matching color scheme for both, right? Any case you think she might like? As for storage, would you go with a 240/250/256GB SSD and then a 1tb HDD, or would you rather a 500gb SSD, or something else?

Still working on it (Almost nobody makes good black/green boards so it's a pretty hard one to work with so I might just fall back on a black one since there won't be enough parts to get a black/green/white theme going I think going mostly black with green ram would be better.) but just popped in to ask if you also need 2 copies of windows with it, then?

If you're using windows 7 on a desktop that you plan to swap out for this one, you might be able to get it off of there and use the free upgrade to windows 10. @TidaLWaveZ you were here earlier, how would one go about retrieving a windows license and using it on a new computer?

Edit: But you can take off $50 for the 1TB drive if you can move the data off your old drive and then wipe it *windows removal included, but someone else would have to help w/ that because I am as bad with software stuff as I am good with hardware).

As for monitors I think you would have a more satisfying expirience if you went with 60hz and put the money you would put into higher refresh rates into the build instead. 24" good?

Here's a 24" monitor: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/aoc-monitor-e2425swd ($100 each)

and here's a 23.8" IPS monitor: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umqg6aa001 ($110 each)

which means I'll have to cut into the budget because as it stand it's about $150 over.

150 over is acceptable :) pretty sure i can handle putting 150USD to the side ;) tho what would the price be if it was 1ms?

For some reason all the 1ms monitors are rebated down to the same price, but I would not recommend paying for one since manufacturer statistics are often inaccurate and might refer to input lag or response time either of which generally are unnoticeable (maybe to a pro CS:GO gamer) until they get too high at which point you're more likely to notice it from low reviews than manufacturer specs.
