Hi guys

I recently moved in with my GF and we share our office room.

Than I realized how annoying role play gamers can be, because she's typing 24/7.

My advance is, that the keyboard she owns is pretty old and some media keys don't work anymore.

That's the reason why I want to buy her a new keyboard which should be as quiet as possible. So I'll have my peace in quiet and she'll think of how gentle I am =P.

Can you guys recommend some quiet keyboards? It doesn't need to be shiny RGB mechanic keyboards for >150$. It just has to be as quiet as possible :).

I'd be very happy for any help you guys can offer.

Regards,

Phil

Look for thin keyboards, those tend to be low profile and have very quiet keys.

The main factor is going to be switch type, followed by the construction of the keyboard (metal keyboards, like Corsair's boards, can be quite loud if you bottom the keys out).

I'd suggest a non-clicky switch (red, black, brown and so on) with O-rings and get a desk matt to dampen the sound some more.

EDIT: Or you could go for a chiclet style board if you just want something cheap that isn't going to make a load of noise.

If you're okay with a membrane keyboard, I would recommend the Razer DeathStalker. They have a few different models with different pricing depending on the features. The cheapest does not have backlit keys, while their highest priced option has backlit keys and Razer's Switchblade UI. Personally, I'm primarily a laptop user and I've never been a fan of mechanical keyboards. The DeathStalker is by far my favorite keyboard out of any I've used.

There is the Corsair Strafe RGB Keyboard with the MX Silents, if you want a mechanical keyboard. I believe that they are the only keyboard with these types of switches. They are now on sale for $120 at Best Buy.

Here is a review from Hardware Canucks comparing them, with MX Reds. The sound test starts at about 2:30.

They are expensive, but if you'd not go for that expensive of a mechanical keyboard, use any keyboard with Red Switches (like the Noppoo keyboard with Khail Reds on Newegg for like $55) and buy some cheap o-rings to dampen the sound.

If you'd don't want to go for the mechanical feel, go with the Razer Deathstalker (for a chiclet keyboard), or another membrane keyboard with low profile keys
