Hey all,

Just wondering about these. Those that have been viewing my threads (not many of lol) have seen the latest on my parents home network.

I haven't yet decided which access point to purchase to complete the network, however I'm leaning towards Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO full throttle.. however, I saw a little device at my job called an Aerohive...

Researching into Aerohive, I've found some of the (claimed) best Access Points in the market; specifically, the non-consumer market.

Now, looking on ebay, I can pick one up ranging from an older and cheap version to those that can cost up to $375 for an access point... nonetheless, most sellers state that you need Aerohive manager software to use these. HOW do I get this manager software should I want to pick one up and use that instead of the Ubiquiti?

Do I need to have an account with Aerohive to use their products??? Is there some sort of registration with the company that's required to get these actually working? Or do I just need the software??

If anybody has any information on these, please let me know

My understanding is that areohive is similar to cisco meraki, in that the dashboard is all online, you plug it in, then configure on an internet web portal and it gets pushed down to the device.

If it is anything like the meraki gear, you looking at some expensive licences (and no, they wont have a perpetual license.
