I'm looking to build a similar machine to what was done by Linus in his personal computer 2015 upgrade (rack-mounted 3U chassis)

I have a bit of a special needs for it though:

  1. E-ATX compatible
  2. Atleast 6 Hot-Swap bays in front, preferrably for both 2.5" and 3.5" drives
  3. Desktop power supply compatible
  4. Preferrably atleast 3 units (3U) high, in order to be able to host a full-size GPU

This is what I have been thinking about: https://www.xcase.co.uk/3u-rackmount-server-cases/x-case-x348-c8-lcd-short-3u-with-8-hotswap-bay.html

but I have never properly worked with rack monted units before I am slightly concerned whether or not I need to order something on top of just the case (backplane etc.) to have it fully functional.

Suggestions for suitable (and good looking) cases would be appreciated.

(sidequestion: if one of these kind of units is advertised as SAS/mini-SAS, can I connect SATA drives to them or is it only for SAS drives?)
