Just put my new rig together and It's not booting. I suspect its the CPU I selected. From what I read that BIOS on the motherboard needs to be updated to use this CPU. The concern is that the quotes I'm getting to have that done are way too much money. Can someone please look at this and see if these two paired together would cause a system to fail to boot to the BIOS?

CPU:

AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard:

Asus A88X-PRO ATX FM2+ Motherboard

Thanks much

I don´t think it should cause it to fail to boot into the bios. What exactly happens when you try to turn it on?

Does your PC post? as in does your BIOS screen show up? Can't you update your BIOS yourself? Also, what are people charging to update your BIOS?

I was under the impression I needed to have a working compatible CPU in order to get the BIOS updated.

As for what happens, machine powers up, blank screen. Nothing on the display. I don't have a hard drive installed yet so I know I can't boot to an OS but I have all the other parts so I should at least be able to view the BIOS under normal circumstances.

I doubt that you need a bios update to run it, try checking all connections, and pressing clear cmos button

In case anyone finds this while searching to fix their own problem, I was able to resolve this issue by resetting the CMOS. I took out the CR32 battery and moved the CMOS jumper for 10 seconds and moved it back. All that was in the motherboard manual.

Thanks for the replies.
