Why should I spend money on a dedicated router?

Why is better then the "modem+router" given by telephone company?

Well, the Router you get from your company is absolute ass. They give you the cheapest one. I would suggest a Motorola surfboard and a asus 66u

Faster wifi, more secure, more features like caching and vpn's,  and cheaper.

Dedicated devices are better in everyway (quality, stability, reliability, etc.) Also, you can more easily diagnose a problem.
