I am running a AMD FX 8350@ around 4,5GHz and a MSI Nvidia geforce gtx 960 4G SLI.

A friend of mine said he's sure my Corsair RM 850 is not big enough to power a system that needs minimum around 580 watts (enermax calculator)

So i would be glad to know if he is right

I was using a 750w PSU for my 5ghz 8350 with dual 970s. You're fine.

I think your PSU is enough.

Besides, the gap between 580 and 850 watts is pretty big, if that calculator of yours is accurate, you've got some overhead.

CPU: Intel i5-4590 | Motherboard: Asus H97M-E | GPU: Sapphire Nitro R9 390 | RAM: 2x4Gb Kingston HyperX Fury Black | SSD: Sandisk Plus 240Gb HDD: Seagate 250Gb  | PSU: Seasonic G650 80+ Gold | Case: NZXT S340

I am who I am.

That's right, but its minimum 580 watts, so you have to get a bigger power supply. And my friend thinks, I have to go much higher than 850 watts.

I tried to add some second PSU yesterday. So i took a 750watt lc-power and stuck it to my SLI. I think its broken now, nearly get smoked (the GPUs are alright)

Your friend does not know what he is talking about clearly. He lacks the knowledge base for what he says. If the system build says minimum 580, than it should be fine to get a 650-750 watt PSU, let alone a 850.
