Which platform should i pick?

Depends on many different things.

 

Are you on a budget?

Do you mind in future upgradeability?

Do you only game or also editing?

Student - Budgetbuilder - trying to save as much money as possible :D    | I love clean Setups |

 PC: i5-3470. GTX660. 8GB DDR3. -> 320 USD  | Z3 -> 160USD | selfbuild Speakersystem -> 21USD

1.Haswell is cheaper then skylake , and i guess i am 

2. intel will only upgrade the lga 1151socket (i guess)

3.i will only use it for gaming

Also, the CPU's are only a few dollars more, along with DDR4 ram being almost the same price as DDR3.
