I want to get into photography and want a cheapish DSLR, the cheapest brand new I can find is £244 and is a

Canon EOS 1200D

However I have found

Sony A290

Nikon D3000

Sony A230 with 5620 shutter actuations

Canon EOS 500D with 3036 shutter actuations

What is the thing I should look out for? Also I know what 'shutter actuations' is but I dunno what is too much and what is low.

Also are these cameras any good or should I go for a brand new 1200D?

Thanks for that. So the cameras are fine? Any idea which one is the better out of them?

5k shutter actuations is on the low side, most camera are rated for 100,000 or something around there. Its just a measure of how much it was used. Cannon is good, I have a EOS rebel xti, but most people I talk to prefer Nikon.

There could always be other issues besides shutter actuation.  Look online for some guides on buying second hand cameras.  Or to be safe just get a new one.

all those used cameras are kinda old, i'd rather get the 1200d so its new and you're sure that it doesnt have any problems

the problem with buying used is that its not just the actuations thats the problem, there might be other problems that are internal related.
