Installing Windows 10 Home 64-bit from retail box on brand new PC. 

 

I get 2 install options from the boot selection menu:

 

UEFI: KDI-MSFTWindows 10 PMAP, Partition 1 (14784MB)

 

KDI-MSFTWindows 10 PMAP (14784MB)

 

what at is the difference and which do I do?

You want "UEFI: KDI-MSFTWindows 10 PMAP, Partition 1"

Pick the other if you have legacy hardware in your system that doesn't support UEFI, like an old graphics card, or you plan to install Windows 7 or older OS.

 

Once you do install Windows10, you are ready to go back to the UEFI and enable Fast Boot.

If your system is fully UEFI compatible, and has a decently fast SSD, then expect the system to boot from the power button "click" sound when pressed, to the desktop in 6-8sec, from shutdown (restarts are longer, as since Windows 8, Windows partially hibernate itself when you do a shutdown).
