It's something like 180W vs. 120W though. It's not that big of a deal.

The box says 190W but that's for the 380X (full Tonga). 380(non-X) is probably around 170W if I had to guess

Do not buy new amd processors for a budget rig, always 2nd hand else it is just not worth it (intel is better bang4buck with a better upgradepath, unless amd is cheaper, meaning 2nd hand). And if you do want to buy amd, always get am3+ socket so you can upgrade to a 8320 or better later on. Imho Amd 860k socket sucks and is always a waste of money, even 2nd hand it sucks.

get the Gigabyte FM2A88X WIFI.

It has a proper heat spreader on the VRMs. I own said mobo and it is quite good.

Wait until end of march to purchase, by then the Athlon X4 845 should be out. IT IS WORTH WAITING FOR

Why i choose the 845 when the 860K has better specifications?

Did you look at the in-line testing I posted earlier?

No, because it's from PC Perspective and they don't (or didn't) really know how to measure power consumption accurately. They were used to just measuring at the wall.

it doesnt.

the Athlon X4 845 has higher single core performance due to a better architecture. It is also a 65w SKU, vs a 95w SKU... so it kicks out less heat.

In a ITX build, heat is THE WORST enemy. Worse then anything else EVER.

The Athlon X4 845 should launch before april. Wait until we get proper benchmarks before buying a 860k
