What Headphones to buy with Antlion Mic

visualpizza

Hey guys,

I am hooked on the whole Antlion Modmic idea and since my old Creative Labs Fatality Headset broke down last night I decided it is time to finally buy one myself. What Headphones (That are in a reasonable price range (max. +20€ than Modmic itself)) would you recommend?

I usually play alot of games mostly CS:GO on my pc but I also listen to music, I like it more bass heavy but highs and mids sometimes too are important for cs:go. Oh and I am in Europe, please don't make me jealous by posting something that I cannot get here :D Thanks in advance though.

Nice.

Creative Aurvana Live! (the first one). Used them for several years. Probably the best price/performence ratio. You can get them for 40-50€.

The point of the modmic is so you can use your current headphones. Not to buy headphones because of the modmic. There are better mics out there for the same price if you dont mind having a desktop mic. Anyway, the Creative Aurvana Live! are a great recommendation by Jurij. And I highly recommend getting a usb desktop mic. The modmic does have issues with some audio inputs. Its rare but does happen. My modmic works perfectly with my Astro Mixamp but has way too much buzzing using with my motherboard. Anyway, just something to think about. The modmic isnt perfect and imo is overpriced for what you get. The moovmic is basically the same thing but for half the price (at least in the US). Back when it was $30usd is was decent for the money. But not anymore

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look at the Aurvana and overthink my decision to buy an Antlion Modmic again, maybe read more about it. I don't know about desktop mics though, I am a regular Teamspeak user and have a mechanical keyboard I don't want to annoy everyone when typing. Also I currently use just the mic of my headset with my headset sitting on the desktop and I don't know just having it sitting there between my arms somehow feels like its restricting my movement...might just be a matter of getting used to?

Anyway thanks so far!

Could you elaborate? I find it hard to come up with any really helpful information about said issues. Thanks.

The 3.5mm input of some soundcards and motherboards can be bad. As in they have too much static and buzzing/humming. Its very rare but does happen. Just make sure that you buy from someone that has a good return policy. And its not just the modmic. Its any 3.5mm mic. And again, very rare.

Example:

Using my on-board sound and my Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional my modmic sounds like crap because of all the buzzing/humming coming from the 3.5mm jack. But sounds good using the Astro Mixamp (sound is clear). If you read user reviews you'll find that Im not the only one to experience this. And an easy fix is to buy a usb soundcard for under $7 and just use the mic input.
