Which temp?

Just checking some temps with a new OC (4.5GHz @ 1.4v), in HWmonitor, do I want to watch CPU temps, or package temps?

Look at CPU. Package is at the socket so it's pretty close, but if you have the CPU temps, look at that one.

Ah, so CPU runs quite a bit hotter than the package, but in Aida64 should I take the hottest core over the CPU temp?

Nah, the cpu temperature will be a good overview of the overall temperature. Also Aida64 isn't very realistic as it's just an algorithm that maxes the chip.

Really just trying to get a stability idea under worst case scenario. I'm really just fucking around, new Xeon next week
