Urgent Disk Error Help!!

So I need to edit this video by yesterday and I keep getting this error while importing footage or music. I see the music in the timeline and I can hear it but when it is done conforming the audio I can't hear it and it says this error. IMG_0229.thumb.JPG.122c0d2c1d7973b3ff0ba

 I think the hard drive is dying because it is a portable USB 3.0 drive that was never made for constant reading and writing. Any ideas? Get a 3TB WD black or 1TB SSD?

Transfer the file to another drive, try to use it from there.

(Assuming you have more than 1 drive)

Backup your data now to anything. Get the critical stuff first. Also check to see if the cable is attached properly and that you have permissions to that folder.

 

You should always have at least two good copies of anything important that you don't want to lose.
