Ever since I built a new gaming computer, I have been encouraging my friend, who I play games with a lot, to build himself a new gaming PC. He doesn't know much about that kind of stuff though, so I am planning it out for him and am going to help him build it. His only requirements were that he wants to keep it under $750, he wants a nvidia card to stream to his shield and he wants it to be very small.

This is what I planned out: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/penguin2424/saved/9vDtt6

I'm open to any suggestions except for the case because he seemed to really like that case

Thanks

First off I took away the cpu cooler since he will not be able to overclock with a non overclockable cpu he does not need that big cooler.

I then took away that laptop hard drive since it will not be as fast as an ssd. he will always be able to add another SSD later on and he could even put them in raid.

finally I changed the graphics card to a 380x which will perform better than a 960.

Hope I was able to help :D

  • Switch out the cooler for a nhl9i. The one you have listed looks fine but the Noctua is better as is quieter.
  • Power supply is good but the one that you can get bundles with the node 202 is pretty decent...
  • Switch that hard drive to a SSD. Maybe pre route cables for a second so you have room for storage upgrades down the line. Start off with a 240gb or 480gb
  • Look at stepping down to a gtx 950 or upto a 380x. Both are better value. Look at some benchmarks and see what suites you best. The 960 is by no means a bad hard though
  • Ditch the wifi dongle and grab a motherboard with wifi built in. There are lots of mini its boards that have this
