Hello guys,

I have this issue, i have Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX6700

(8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 8 GB ram, Corsair 240gb SSD and GPU ASUS GTX 760 and my CPU goes 95+ while playing battlefield 3, and i have nothing running in the background and i have even razer game booster on, i just cant figure out whats taking so much load from my CPU while running BF3, my average CPU load is about 88%-100% which is crazy...

can some tell me how the hell i can fix this issue cause 93%+ cpu load starts affecting my fps and that's freaking annoying.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

also i should mention my cpu load on idle not gaming goes about 0%-4% i also own after market Zalman CPU cooler and it seems to be working just fine.

While that does seem very high, Battlefield is a CPU intensive game. It always has been

I just randomly about 2 ish months ago started getting 80-100% cpu usage my my 4.3Ghz 3570k, I went through everything to try and fix it and even talked to EA support but they don't even know what a cpu is so that didn't help much. I never could figure out a fix for it.

Are you saying this is normal? to run a game on CPU 100% load, do you think replacing my CPU cooler with an internal water cooling system will help in anyway if i manage to decrease the CPU temp a bit? while gaming my CPU temp goes about as high as around 88c

please advise

Increasing your cooling capabilities won't help in this case as your CPU isn't getting temperature throttled. It isn't normal, but it is not uncommon with battlefield especially on a core2 CPU. If you increase your cooling then you can overclock a bit which could reduce load. Otherwise just leave it

Get a new cpu and mobo, you have a 760 so you may as well bring the rest of your rig up-to-date...

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

Thanks mate, i hope my CPU wont die cause of this 100% load while gaming

That's perfectly normal, if anything its a good thing. Why buy a nice CPU if it isn't getting used? I used to have an old E7600 core 2 duo that maxed itself on everything, in a way it made me happy because I felt like I was getting the most out of it, obviously later I had to upgrade but still don't be surprised if your CPU is at 100%.

It is normal, as a video editor myself I frequently get my CPU up to 100% and there is nothing bad about it. Your system has no faults.

In a word performance..........His CPU is straining to keep up with his GPU, which is not a good thing......

A core2 and gtx760 is a big bottleneck....

I don't think that's true cause I had the same issue back when I used to run asus gtx 295 gpu which is like 5 years older than the gtx 760.

Overclock. I had Q6600 before upgrade and with low-med I hit constantly over 80% usage. Now with med-high setting I don't get over 60% (4770K). If you want smoother experience, lower graphics and play on smaller servers.

It is the cause, Battlefield 3 is CPU intensive, a core2 doesn't cut it anymore, Even high end machines get chugged out on battlefield 3 on 64 player maps.

I just lowered from Ultra settings to medium and it helped by around 5%-10% on the cpu load..

thanks guys

If you got that cpu at stock speeds then its pretty normal to get that high cpu usage in bf3 (esp on 64 player maps) ,my q9550,when at stock speeds (2,83 ghz) was doing 90-100 % cpu usage pretty much nonstop on 64 player maps.

Like LoGiCalDrm said, you can also overclock your cpu (pretty easy with the cpu you got)  to get more fps

I will try that, i have the XFX Nforce 680i mobo, i still dont know if i can overclock it from the bios it's a pretty old board..

That is an extremely old CPU, it would be a much better value to just buy a newer one with a cheap cooler than to purchase an expensive liquid cooler, especially if your motherboard doesn't support overclocking. I have a 2500k at 4.8ghz and it is pretty much always at 100% when playing battlefield that just means battlefield is good at utilizing resources.

My Intel Core i3-2120 runs at around 70-80% playing BF3, I'd like to say it's normal but I'm really not sure.
