I made a new part list, leaving behind the 760T (NOOO MY PRECIOUS), and packing an i7 6700k and a gtx 980ti.

Budget is $1500, but I could slap in the 760T and go about $50 more. Should I?

 

Again, probably made a lot of bad decisions.

Again, probably made a lot of bad decisions.

The build looks fine - can't fault it. If you can afford the extra $50, just do it.
