Overclocking on 4+1 power phase

Could I compensate having bad motherboard by cooling vrm with horizontal CPU cooler (like CM Geminii)?

To what point could I overclock my CPU? Can I expect anything beyond 4GHz or 4.2GHz?

PC specs:

FX 8320

ASRock 990FX extreme3

Kingston HyperX Fury Red 1866MHz DDR3

Gigabye R9 280 Winddforce3 OC edition

Thermaltake Smart SE 730W modular PSU

Samsung 850 series, 120GB SSD

Zalman Z1 case

yes

even if youre gooling it to -100c, youre still placing stress on it.

thats like saying" car engines go faster when cold. ill put a golf course engine cooled to -100c in a camaro" itll work 'BETTER", to some extent, but eventually, it wont be able to do some things, such as climb hills, ie: heavy oc

so summary. itll work, but eventually youll hit a wall, and you wont be able to scale it.

id suggest investing in a better mobo

I'm wondering if it's worth for 4GHz-4.2GHz to go with horizontal CPU cooler or just use Hyper 212 EVO. I saw people even undervolting this CPU and still getting over 4GHz. So I'm just worried about VRM since I can't afford to replace relatively new motherboard. I need a mod, not a new part.

So to sum up, shall I just get the Hyper 212 EVO and reach fairly easy overclock of 500MHz on FX8320 or shall I be worried for vrm and put some cooling on it aswell.
