help me im a noobie!;D

i just finished my first pc build ever, installed all the drivers but i have one big problem. i cant connect to network.

my motherboard(msi z97 pc mate) has onboard lan and i installed the drivers for it but it doesnt work.

and i also cant route ethernet cabble around my house, for reasons.

do i have to buy a internet antenna or am i too stupid  to understand these things;D?

do you have a wireless card in your pc?

Did you install you mobo's drivers that came with the box? Like, there's a CD/ROM in there which is for network drivers and stuff. Basiccly it lets your MOBO talk to da network. BASICCLY

You do not have a wifi card. You will need to purchase it. LAN means you can connect to an ethernet cable

You need the antenna but get a lan cable would be best

LAN KEYWORD IS LAN, meaning not wifi but ethernet

Onboard LAN generally refers to the ethernet port, which is a wired connection. if your board doesn't support WiFi or you don't have a wireless card then you need to buy one or use an ethernet cable.

I say it "generally refers" to that because it doesn't actually mean wired. It's Local Area Network. You can have a wireless LAN or a mix of wired and wireless.

Yea but if it had wifi it would be advertised to death. it would even be in the MOBOs name
