1. Budget & Location

Australia, ive got a 1200 dollar budget, 1300 dollars max

2. Aim

Gaming and schoolwork, maybe editing later on down the line.

3. Monitors

A single 1080P monitor, thats all.

4. Peripherals

Peripherals arent needed as i will slowly buy them over the course of a few months. Ill need windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Im upgrading because my trusty 7 year old lenevo with a core 2 duo and 2gb of ram simply isnt cutting it anymore.

Was thinking of this : http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/1Dxxx

Your build looks good, though I suggest you wait for the upcoming cards from AMD.

You can get nicer ram for that and cheaper, look at the sniper series from Gskill, wait for 9 series or go a 7970 (will fit budget), you should get an SSD and if possible bump it up to an fx8350

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

Just change the psu so you can add another 7950 for crossfire later. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/ocz-power-supply-oczzt750w

Why a bluray reader?

In terms of tower alone I've mocked up this, similar yours but I've been able to fit a 120gb SSD & 2tb in without ill sacrifice.

Feel free to wait for the next iteration of amd cards before you lock it in :)

Mum buys blurays and I like to watch them (:

Why not have one ?

Always handy aha

I was just asking because most people don't even use an optical drive and many builds that have a blu ray drive never use it.

I know aye , why bother putting an optical drive in if you're not gonna use it ??

That's what I ask people who think they need it for Windows installation when they don't know they can just use a usb stick.
