Well I don't know about you, but for handwriting I find Wacom tablets to be a bit slow in terms of productivity (the issue is not the hardware or interface) compared to actually writing something on paper or typing on a physical keyboard or on a touch screen keyboard.  I have Wacom tablets for working with images.  I also have a Wacom Cintiq Companion portable tablet.

In fact, I LOVE the productivity I have with my Macbook Pro and iPad, which I use as a portable video/photo editing machine, design and development machine (my Retina Macbook Pro) and as a presentation tool (my iPad) when I'm in meetings.  I even use the iPad to share my portfolios with clients, when I meet with them the device lets me show them samples of my works.  They work well together, and along with the PC workstation I have at home.  I can share my files using cloud services like DropBox, Box.Net, Amazon Cloud,  Youtube, Vimeo, Flickr, etc.  When I'm traveling on a plane or train, the iPad also doubles as my tool to take quick notes, jot down ideas, make plans.
