It's not supposed to go on your 4 pin motherboard header. It's designed to hook up loads of fans. You connect your molex and SATA power connections to it and connect your fans to it. It also looks like it interfaces through USB to the motherboard.

oh thanks I thought it had three molex ports on it my bad. You know if the bios will detect the fans as well as the 4-pin?

What are you gonna be using for cooling? A liquid cooler or air cooler? For the liquid cooler, you'll want the pump(for AIOs) connected to the CPU fan, and if you're using an air cooler, make sure the fan is connected to the CPU fan header.

Nope, plug in the CPU fans to the motherboard and all case fans to that fan connector hub then to molex, I don't think you'll be able to control the RPM though.

Correct. Except for the RPM statement - I can't comment on that.

PWM is an advanced method of controling fan RPMs. Basically, fans are sent 12V bursts to maintain RPM. This allows RPM controling to be much more precise than straight voltage.

You can try a couple of 4 pin to molex male connectors (or make your own) and then you'll be able to control the fans rpm.  It might not have enough power, so mix and match the sata connector a molex to molex and the 4 pin to molex connectors until it works.

I just want to control the rpm. but I am probably just going to do 3-pin fans since I can control them anyways with my fan xpert 2

If it's interfaced through USB, you cannot control the fans using Fan Xpert.
